Press Release

24th March 2015

CREAT3D showcase the use of desktop 3D printing for medical device applications at Med Tech Innovation Expo 2015.

CREAT3D (www.desktop3dprinter.com), the independent specialist in desktop 3D printers will be showcasing the desktop 3D printing technology at Med Tech Innovation Expo 2015, from 29th to 30th April at Ricoh Arena, Coventry.

3D printing is being used in both the design and manufacture of products, in fields such as engineering, product design and architecture. The process allows the development of unconventional shapes and geometries that are not available through traditional fabrication methods. The use of desktop 3D printers is not about replacing existing manufacturing processes but about enhancing the product design process and creating an environment to foster product innovation.

The technology is widely used within the medical technology sector to create individual components, prototypes and models for product development, proof of concept and product form, fit and function testing. In particular, desktop 3D printing is particularly apt for prototype and design development, as design iterations can be quickly and easily produced, at a very low cost.

CREAT3D is an independent specialist in desktop 3D printers and handheld 3D scanners, with 3D printers at this desktop level, ranging from approximately £800 to £5,000 in price. Having worked with a number of clients in this field, CREAT3D understand the benefit of applying desktop 3D printing technology to different applications. Their independent buying advice and hand-pick products from a range of manufacturers, provide machines with different characteristics and capabilities, whilst maintaining high quality.

Showcased at Med Tech Innovation Expo will be a range of desktop 3D printers, including:

  • The new Leapfrog Creatr HS, with a print volume of 14.1 litres and dual nozzles to increase flexibility and allow the option of soluble support material
  • The MakerBot Replicator Z18, with an extra tall print capacity of up to 457mm and an enclosed build chamber
  • The ProJet 1200, a micro-SLA 3D printer which uses resin to create very fine detailed parts which can be used for a variety of applications
  • The brand new Ultimaker 2 Extended, to be seen for the first time in the UK’s medical sector. A versatile printer that can use a variety of different materials such as higher-strength and flexible filaments
  • The high capacity printers are ideal for producing large prototypes, including models on which medical devices or components are then tested. Whereas the ProJet 1200 and Ultimaker 2 Extended 3D printers are ideal for small medical instruments or components.

CREAT3D combine their large product offering with expert knowledge and independent advice, to help customers make an informed decision, allied to tailored training and installation packages. As standard, CREAT3D customers receive technical support 6 days a week by phone and email.

See the products in action and talk to CREAT3D experts at Med Tech Innovation Expo, stand 97. Orders can be placed for products during the show. Alternatively, all products will be on display in CREAT3D’s showroom in Reading, Berkshire following the event.
