Press Release

28th April 2014

CREAT3D to showcase Fuel3D scanner at Grand Designs Live.

The new Fuel3D handheld scanner will be on show at Grand Designs Live London from 3 to 11 May in the Tech Box.

CREAT3D Ltd (www.desktop3dprinter.com), the independent specialist retailer of personal 3D printers and 3D scanners is pleased to announce their appointment as the first UK reseller for the new Fuel3D scanner.  The Fuel3D scanner will be demonstrated by CREAT3D in the Tech Box at Grand Designs Live London, taking place at the Excel from 3 to 11 May 2014.

After raising over $300,000 with a successful Kickstarter campaign, followed by a further $2.6 million (£1.6 million) in early stage investment, Fuel3D are launching their affordable, high resolution handheld 3D scanner later this year, which will form an important part of CREAT3D’s range.

The Fuel3D 3D scanner brings handheld 3D imaging technology, originally developed for high-end medical applications, into the professional and consumer marketplace with its point-and-shoot and colour capture capabilities. The British-born Fuel3D is an easy-to-use, affordable handheld 3D scanner that captures extremely high-resolution mesh and colour information.

Fuel3D is ideal for designers, game developers, animators, 3D artists or any other type of creative developer. It is particularly suited for capturing skin, e.g. faces and body parts, fabric, organic subjects e.g. plants and leaves, stone, masonry and brick, food and artwork, e.g. textured paintings and statues.

Fuel3D is the world’s first 3D scanner to combine pre-calibrated stereo cameras with photometric imaging to capture and process files in seconds. Fuel3D uses optical localization to determine the position of the imaging device during the scanning process.

Fuel3D captures accurate and detailed images, converting files to be further edited or 3D printed. The Fuel3D handheld 3D scanner outputs scans into STL, OBJ and PLY file format.

The Fuel3D 3D scanner costs £995.00 inclusive of VAT and delivery. Projected shipment is September 2014. To pre-order, visit www.desktop3dprinter.com
