Replacing it's predecessor, the 5th Generation model, the Replicator+ produces good quality prints at 30% faster speeds, features a sturdier construction and a 25% bigger build volume. Combined with MakerBot’s powerful workflow tools, the MakerBot Replicator+ streamlines desktop 3D printing, producing prototypes, models and components quickly for engineers and designers.

 

The MakerBot Replicator+ uses a Smart Extruder+ to print in MakerBot PLA and the new MakerBot Tough PLA for durable, high-impact prints due to the material properties being more akin to ABS. The Smart Extruder+ has additional functionalities such as automatic filament detection and pause features.

 

There is also improved print adhesion and removal with a the new Flex Build Plate with Grip Surface, resulting in reduced warping and curling of prints. Furthermore, the Replicator+ is cloud enabled and features the new advanced print software MakerBot Print and MakerBot Mobile providing greater control over the use of the 3D printer and streamlining your workflow. TOUGHER MATERIAL

 

The Replicator+ can now print in MakerBot Tough PLA, a material with properties akin to ABS in its tensile, impact, and flexural strength. Due to its formula it also warps less than ABS, and offers greater durability than PLA, meaning it can flex more than PLA before it breaks.

Is the MakerBot Replicator+ single or multiple extruder?

The MakerBot Replicator+ is a single extruder desktop 3D printer.  It uses a MakerBot Smart Extruder+ (or MakerBot Tough PLA Smart Extruder+), which has the ability to detect filament absence and automatically pause your prints.

 

You can print in multiple colours with a single extruder by pausing a print and swapping filament, or by printing in multiple pieces and assembling. 

 

What colours/filament can I use?

The MakerBot Replicator+ desktop 3D printer uses MakerBot PLA Large or Small spool filament. There is a range of over 20 colours and different finishes including translucent filaments. 

 

The Replicator+ can also use MakerBot Tough PLA filament (Large spools), for durable, high-impact strength prototypes and fixtures.

How do I get a file to my MakerBot Replicator+ for printing?

You transfer your print ready file to your MakerBot Replicator+ desktop 3D printer via USB cable, Ethernet or Wi-Fi, or you can use the cloud enabled apps such as MakerBot Mobile or MakerBot Print.

 

What software is required for the MakerBot Replicator+?

The MakerBot Replicator+ uses advanced print software, MakerBot Print, scalable design-to-print software that optimised and streamlines the 3D printing experience for any workflow. MakerBot Print is free to download and an easy way to discover, prepare, manage and share 3D printable files. It is the only software to offer integrated Thingiverse navigation. 

 

MakerBot Print has a number of enhanced and additional functionalities:

 

Native CAD Support: Save time by importing native CAD files, like parts and assemblies. Reduce the number of files to manage, and eliminate the need to convert files to an STL format which prevents conversion errors

  • Print entire CAD assemblies or choose which parts to print

  • 1-click auto-arrange for all components within an assembly

  • Hide and show individual parts and subassemblies in imported CAD projects. Parts from an assembly can be automatically laid out across multiple build plates if there isn’t room on one build plate

Native CAD is for Windows. Mac users can import an assembly as a collection of STL files

 

Optimised Slicing: MakerBot Print’s slicer algorithm is optimised by the MakerBot engineering team to automatically adjust slice settings for the following:

  • Your specific printer model, software version, and Smart Extruder type

  • Automatic updates add new features for higher quality and speed, when printing a wider range of models and geometries

  • Ensures future compatibility

Cloud-Enabled Management: Remotely control multiple printers from MakerBot Print or MakerBot Mobile. Monitor them via camera feeds and status updates

 

Automatic Updates: MakerBot Print will automatically update, so you can quickly benefit from new features added through new software or firmware releases

 

New File Management: Save 3D files and their layout on build plates as projects to share for collaboration. A project allows you to save the designs, print settings, and build plate layout of those designs as one file.

 

New Print Preview: Preview the path that the extruder will take to create a print. Review layers individually or watch an animated preview:

  • Make adjustments before printing a model

  • View support material placement  

  • Validate that small features are printable

What layer resolution can the MakerBot Replicator+ print at?

The MakerBot Replicator+ can print at 100 microns.

 

Do I need to level the MakerBot Replicator+ print pad?

No, the build plate is factory levelled so you shouldn't need to level it. There is however assisted levelling for ongoing maintenance.
